The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
In Chapter One of "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas," the reader is introduced to Bruno, the main character of the story. Bruno is a small 9 year old boy who lives in Berlin during World War 2. He comes home to find his housekeeper, Maria, picking his stuff up. Bruno learns from his mother that they are moving, and comes to the conclusion that this has to do with the fact that this has to do with the dinner with the Fury and the blonde woman last week. Bruno is going to miss his home, especially the staircase from which he would slide down the railing. He is also going to miss his friends, and is convinced from the beginning that he doesn't want to move. Bruno here is shown to be a hard-headed person, showing that even though his mother tries to comfort him, he will not budge on his opinions about the move.

Hello Martha! I really enjoyed this summary of chapter one. You described the character of Bruno and his current situation. I also enjoyed how you introduced the chapter. One the other hand, what was the organizational pattern used in this chapter?
ReplyDeleteThe organizational pattern used in the stOry is chronological order, he is describing everything from beginning to end. I think that having a strong beginning is what helps the readers understand the rest of the story. Who do you think the Fury is and what do you think his father works as? Keep in mind, the setting of this story is during World War II.
ReplyDeleteHi Martha! I agree with you that a strong beginning is important in a stroy and that it helps a reader understand the story better. In my opinion, the Fury is Adolf Hitler. From this, one can assume his father is a high valued military officer in Hitler's army. What is your opinion on his father's motives based on his place in Hitler's military?
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, the Fury is Adolf Hitler. Throughout the stry, you can conclude that Bruno's father is a higly valued military officer from Adolf Hitler's army. I think that Brunno's father is trying to move up in ranking. This can be concluded by moving his family to a place without all the fanciness they were used to. His second motive I believe is to exterminate Jewish minorities and try to bring about an Aryan only society, which is terrible.Thank you for taking your time to comment on my blog and hsare your thoughts about the story with me.
